The Civil Society Monitoring Report 2012

Civil Society Monitoring Project 2012 is launched with the financial support of Chrest Foundation, Open Society Foundation and German Marshall Fund. The second edition of the Civil Society Monitoring Report that focused on developments in the 2011-2012 period reports on the strength and overall viability of non-profit sector in Turkey. Furthermore, the report highlighted both advances and setbacks in sectoral development. Following the first edition which was published in 2011, TUSEV will continue with the Civil Society Monitoring Project annually to allow for comparing the advances and setbacks in the sector. This year’s report provides information on various aspects of civil society such as, public sector-CSO relations, legal and fiscal environment, institutional infrastructure and the financial sustainability of the non-profit sector, governance of CSOs and international relations. The Monitoring Report aimed to open up a discussion on the role and impact of the non-profit sector in Turkey with case studies focusing on CSOs participation in Turkey’s new constitution making process, activities and role of the non-profit sector following the Van Earthquake, the role of international donors in supporting Turkish CSO’s and media-CSO relations.
