European Foundation Centre Annual General Assembly and Conference, 29-31 May 2009, Istanbul

TUSEV (Third Sector Foundation of Turkey) hosted the 19th European Foundation Centre Annual General Assembly (AGA) and Conference, held between 29-31 May 2008 in Istanbul with the theme “Fostering Creativity”. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister of Republic of Turkey, and Mary Robinson, former United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and former President of the Republic of Ireland were among the participants of the opening plenary. During this three-day event, nearly 700 delegates from 55 countries all around globe came together to discuss the foundation sector under this year’s conference theme: “Fostering Creativity”. In addition to a rich array of panels on issues such as human trafficking, global warming, entrepreneurship, immigration, intercultural dialogue and many more, the delegates had the opportunity to visit Mihrişah Valide Sultan Foundation (an ottoman foundation which has been providing services for over two centuries) and Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV) Education Park (a modern foundation facility which has served over 35,000 children to date).
